Make no mistake Mayrhofen is a very serious Alpine destination with immense mountain terrain and top skiers and snowboarders. But after dark (and sometimes during the gloom or earlier) Mayrhofen lets its hair down and is one of the apres ski power-houses of the region. Apres action starts at the top Penken gondola station and continues at the bottom Penken gondola station – you can’t fault the land use! Apres ski is pretty focussed on the centre of the resort and most places aren’t too much of a slip apart. As well as the apres haunts Mayrhofen has the white lounge up on the Ahorn which offers a chilled DJ scene whilst the annual Snowbombing festival offers an awesome line-up each year and a guaranteed test of any immune system to excess on the grandest of scales.
