Mayrhofen off-piste skiing and snowboarding
Despite its fairly lowly resort altitude, Mayrhofen has a ski area that is both high and has a good snow record. High and cold, with a good snow record usually suggests good snow quality. Weather permitting, Mayrhofen can offer excellent powder skiing and snowboarding.
The extensive ski terrain is also one of the aspects that makes Mayrhofen a good choice for off-piste skiing. There are endless kilometers of ski pistes and between these there are many areas in which to find off-piste terrain and powder skiing. Around the top of the Penkenbahn there are trees in which to find the best snow; snow that is often protected from the sun. Higher up in the Mayrhofen ski area the terrain becomes treeless and the areas really open up into large bowls with some steep terrain to be found. Those looking for off-piste skiing and riding are well advised to use the services of a local guide from one of the
Mayrhofen ski schools.
