Off the slopes Mayrhofen has more to offer than very many other ski holiday resorts. Off the slopes but still on the snow there are cross-country skiing trails through the valley, whilst on ice then the re is ice climbing as well as ice skating on offer. Local specialities include cheeses, cured meats and of course locally produced schnapps. There are a number of food festivals that take place in the Zillertal Valley that showcase the local produce. With such a strong local farming influence there are many high quality regional restaurants both on the mountains and in the resorts.
