Skiing in on the Hintertux Glacier
Further up the valley from Mayrhofen is the ski area of the Hintertux Glacier. Its height ensures snow reliability and year round skiing. Additionally snow is usually better on the Hintertux Glacier and it provides further terrain to explore for those who have exhausted other ski terrain options. The skiing on the Hintertux Glacier tends to be best suited to intermediates with wide and reasonably flat ski pistes. December and January can be cold but this is compensated by the views and snow conditions.

There are a number of ski holiday villages at the bottom station of the Hintertux Glacier. Here, ski chalet and ski hotel accommodation can be found for access to the glacier or the other resorts in the valley, including Mayrhofen.
