Located between the Hintertux Glacier and the ski holiday resort of Finkenberg, Lanersbach occupies a high altitude section of the Zillertal Valley with a narrow valley base and towering peaks on both sides of the valley. Lanersbach is situated beneath the Eggalm ski area and also has access over to the Finkenberg ski area. Lanersbach is the most southerly section of the Zillertal 3000 ski region that is connected to Mayrhofen. Due to the narrow valley base Lanersbach is a long, stretched out resort / village which is attractive, low rise and still has strong roots in farming and forestry. The main tourist information centre for the southern section of the Zillertal Valley as well as a modern conference centre are located in Lanersbach. There are a number of shops and facilities in Lanersbach as well as a wide range of accommodation. Lanersbach is a great location to take advantage of the Hintertux Glacier as well as having immediate access to the main Zillertal 3000 ski region skiing via the Eggalm gondola. There are a number of apres ski bars in Lanersbach although it doesn’t have the nightlife that Mayrhofen boasts. Free ski buses run from Lanersbach to the Hintertux Glacier whilst the resorts and ski areas to the north in the Zillertal 3000 ski region can be reached either by free ski bus or on the snow.
